Basic Bundle – Engraving Wood Milling Machine – 4×8 foot high performance DIY with Z-Axis
Maslow CNC Router Kit – Basic Bundle – Engraving Wood Milling Machine is 4 x 8 foot DIY CNC kit and is a perfect introduction to large format CNCs. It also has some advanced features, such as Z-Axis functionality which gets rid of the requirement of manual adjustment of the depth during the project built. This kit is produced by MakerMade CNC and endorsed by Maslow for distribution.
The kit is also open-source software. It is designed in such way that it can be used with Makerverse open-source software and your purchase includes this. What is more, Makerverse is a GRBL CNC control application that has custom controls. Also, it is chain driven. This means that chain drive system has more than one advantages. Firstly, it’s a stronger alternative compared to belt system machines. Secondly, it can practically be scaled up or down by shifting the length of chain and the size of the frame.
The kit has very high performance. Maslow CNC Router Kit – Basic Bundle – Engraving Wood Milling Machine can cut anything a traditional hand router can. This of course involves hardwoods; plywood; MDF laminate; hard plastics (acrylic, nylon, uPVC, hard PVC); soft plastics (polycarbonate, polyethylene, soft PVC).

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Q: What’s in the box? This ad is very light on description.
A: The best description is over on the Maker Made web site, but this essentially comes with everything except the router, wood frame, and the screws to assemble the wood frame.
Q: Can this accept any type of router bits, specifically a dovetail bit? what size collet does the maslow use?
A: Yeah, so the maslow can run on most routers that have the standard 1/2 in or 1/4 collet adapter and fixed base. I would not use a dove tail bit for cutting patterns but I don’t see why I wouldn’t be able to…. for example carve a rail, key slots or such.
Q: What is the maximum area this will engrave?
A: There is more to this answer. I have the unit that will move the router in and out. The accuracy can degrade toward the edges.
Q: How does the z axis work?
A: The Router is on a bracket that moves in and out from the face of the carrier board that holds it. The bracket can slide in and out with a stepper motor controlling the distance it moves.
