OVERVIEW

The a61nx is a 500mm, 40-taper production horizontal machining center. The a51nx and a61nx share common machine technologies which is a key to productivity, certainty and machine reliability to one upper level.  To assure that the whole a61nx work envelope can be used efficiently, robust casting design and large roller-type linear guides are used.

The 14,000-rpm high-speed, high-power spindle features 303 Nm of torque. To deal with rigid applications the stiffness and rigidity of machines are utilized. This provides complete use of the spindle power and torque that normally would be run on 50 taper machines.

Multiple technologies on the a61nx decrease non-cut time, giving advantages in automotive and high volume part production. Inertia Active Control (IAC) monitors motor carries and predicts total fixture weight. Making use of this information IAC maximizes the acceleration and deceleration of the heavily used B and Z-axis. The spindle makes full use of the duty rated torque to further enhance start / stop responsiveness. This leads to 20% decrease in tapping time when compared to the previous model. A standard Vision type Broken Tool Sensor is located in the ATC magazine where it automatically approves the current status of drills, taps and other single point tools.

The a61nx production machining center is usable in a tall column (730mm) version for part applications where larger strokes are needed. All these original features such as unique way-cover design, dual-supported tool-change arm and Makino spindle technology, offer the basis for prominent reliability.
