BobsCNC Evolution 4 CNC Router Kit, BobsCNC has developed a reputation for providing customer service of excellence.
The RT08701C router and a microprocessor based in Arduino are supplied on the CNC router Evolution 4, which is linked with a network through a USB link through grbl. It is suggested to use Universal Gcode Sender platform version for Windows, OSX, Linux and Raspberry Pi based on Java. Below you can find the most important key features of BobsCNC Evolution 4 CNC Router Kit.
Even though it is the best known so far, it’s important to look into any problems if you just come into the CNC router with a good means of contacting the manufacturer.

Upgrades to BobsCNC Evolution 4 CNC Router
BobsCNC Evolution 4 CNC Router has made several upgrades in order to make your work easier. To construct evolution 4, BobsCNC made a number of modifications to the old E4. In order to increase the speed of the Z transition, the corporation has replaced the threaded rod on the Z-axis with an Acme rod (fixed with a bear and lock collar to eliminate the oscillation of the Z-axis). Thanks to a Delrin Acme nut there is no need for lubricating the Z-drive.
Additional improvements include a setting of excentric spacers to hold the torque flush against the rails, a torsion box portal to minimize longitudinal and torsional deflection at a higher cutting speed and a built-in belt tensioner to facilitate belt-tightness. BobsCNC has developed router mounts for slower, speed-changing routers, which are included in the newer option: DeWalt DW611 or Makita RT0701C.
The self-squaring portal is now normal and cable routing has been strengthened to protect cables from disruption and electrical storage. Finally, there’s an inserted one-piece spoilboard for smoother installation but you can also plan your own if you want money saved.

Here are some recommendations that should be considered by assembling.
Assembly Recommendations
- For assembly of the EVOLUTION, use a wide, smooth, clean working surface. Any screw (if it is not noted) should be snug and then rotated 1-2 1⁄2 times.
- Apply LOCTITE to all the machine screws M4 X 16 mm which are used for fastening spindles except the 4 spindles which fasten the router at step 10 of the final assembly.
- Any laser marks made can be removed with light sanding.
- The wood components are further protected by painting or application of a stain with a transparent layer
- Try using 1-inch blue painter strips to help keep the nozzles in place during installation behind the T-Slots.
BobsCNC Evolution FAQ
Q: I make custom cornhole boards that are 24″x48″. Would this work for cutting designs in the boards?
A: The cutting area is of the BobsCNC Evolution E4 is 24″ x 24″ so you would need to tile the work by cutting the first 24″, them moving the workpiece and cutting the next 24″. Also, we have a customer that modified his BobsCNC Evolution E4 so that it has a 24″ x 48″ cutting area.
Q: Can you upgrade nema17 to nema 23?
A: It can be done but there is no need to do so. The Nema17 stepper motors have more than enough torque. The CNC can jog at over 200 inches per minute. and has plenty of torque for cutting at cutting feed rates.
Q: What’s the difference between BobsCNC Evolution E3 and BobsCNC Evolution E4?
A: The BobsCNC Evolution E3 has a 17.7″ x 15.3″ cutting area and a 1/4″ insets on the spoilboard. The BobsCNC Evolution E4 has a 24″ x 24″ cutting area and a t-slotted spoilboard.

Will update review as I’m going through this process. The short, and simple review is that this is the best puzzle ever. It’s like those 3d wood models you may have made as a child, but 1000x times better because it is so complex, and ingeniously put together.
Loving assembly so far. It’s a wonderful product.
What a great cnc router!
Calling all woodworkers! I am planning on ordering the Evolution 4 in the next week or so. I have never seen a cnc in person and definitely am slightly intimidated. There are just so many YouTube videos one can watch before being completely confused. I want to set myself apart in this arena and the cnc seems like the best way of doing it. Are there groups I can join which will give a total novice advise about the use of the machine?
